In a news release, the New Mexico Department of Health has announced a $100 incentive for New Mexicans who complete their COV-19 vaccination series or receive a single shot Johnson & Johnson vaccination through June 17th. In a quote from DOH Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Tracie Collins, “New Mexico is so close to hitting our June 17th goal: 60% of New Mexicans 16 and over who have completed their vaccination series. We are excited to offer this additional incentive to get us over the finish line – and to reopen our state by July 1st.” In addition, all New Mexicans who have received at least one shot are also eligible for the “Vax 2 the Max” sweepstakes that include a total $10 million in cash prizes and other awards. The first drawings in the sweepstakes, four prizes of $250,000 each, will be conducted on June 18th. The lightning caused Johnson Fire continues to burn in the Gila Wilderness on the Gila National Forest and at the time of this report has covered 65,289 acres at 11% containment. Yesterday’s continued hot and dry conditions brought active burning activities to the northwest corner of the fire as it moved into the upper reaches of Gobbler Canyon and up toward Mogollon Baldy Lookout. In addition, firefighters began suppression activities on the Cross Fire, a new start detected north of the main fire. Current weather concerns include high temperatures from 88 to 92 degrees and low humidity in the range of 5 to 6 percent and some gusty and erratic winds driven by the topography pf the region.

The Town of Silver City has announced that there will be a scheduled water outage in the Ridge Road area on tomorrow, June 15th, from 10:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M.  due to the connection of a new 12-inch water main.
