The Gila National Forest, Silver City Ranger District has approved operation plans submitted by Bronco Creek Exploration regarding the Malone drilling project near the Knight Peak area of the Burro Mountains in Grant County. According to a news release from the Gila National Forest, the approval allows Bronco Creek Exploration to prepare up to 14 drill pads and conduct hard rock mineral exploration drilling in a designated area that is accessed via the Mill Canyon Road, Forest Service Road 859 and Gold Gulch Road 4-12. The purpose of the exploration drilling project is for the evaluation of subsurface mineral resources.  PNM is hosting an On-site Financial Assistance Event tomorrow morning, Saturday July 24th from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the Kiwanis Club Building in Silver City. In addition to receiving help with past due PNM bills, individuals may apply for the PNM COVID Relief Fund, PNM Good Neighbor Fund, and the Emergency Rental Assistance Fund for electric bill assistance. Participants are required to bring documentation showing proof of all household income, ID’s for all persons in the home, and the past due PNM bill. Qualification for the programs must fall within income guidelines that will be provided at the event. The Kiwanis Club Building is located at 900 Silver Heights Boulevard next to the Copper Manor Motel.

Members of the community can donate blood tomorrow at the 2021 Summer Battle of the Badges Silver City Blood Drive at the Silver City Woman’s Club from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. This friendly competition between local law enforcement and firefighters. Donors will receive a Battle of the Badges t-shirts and can cast a vote for fire or law enforcement.
