Due to an executive order by Governor Michell Lujan Grisham all flags in the state of New Mexico will be at half-staff in mourning to honor the four Bernalillo County first responders who were killed in a helicopter crash on Saturday. According to a news release, “Undersheriff Larry Koren, Lieutenant Fred Beers, and Deputy Michael Levinson, all of the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, and Bernalillo County Fire Department Rescue Specialist Matthew King were killed in a helicopter crash in the line of duty on July 16 while assisting with firefighting efforts in San Miguel County.” The executive order directing all flags to be at half-staff will continue this week through sundown on Friday.

The PNM Resources Foundation is again announcing a grant opportunity for New Mexico nonprofits. The “Reduce Your Use” grants offer up to $5,000 allowing nonprofits to spend less on electric bills and to invest more in providing essential services to their communities. According to a new release from PNM, “The 2022 reduce your use grant helps New Mexico nonprofit customers complete projects that reduce their energy use, reduce carbon emissions, and lower their electric bills. Funded projects may include efficient lighting, updating heating and cooling systems, window coverings, ceiling fans, energy saving appliances, solar panel installations and much more.” For more information, visit PNM.com/grants.

Silver Consolidated Schools is hosting Back to School Pool Parties for students, staff, and their immediate families this month. These events are private and for Silver Schools families only. Lifeguards will be present and outside food is allowed. The private party for kindergarten through 6th grade students and their immediate families is scheduled for this Friday, July 22nd from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. The private party for 7th through 12 grade students and their immediate families is scheduled for Friday, July 29th from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. There will also be a private pool party for school staff and their immediate families on Saturday, July 30th from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M.
