The Silver City Town Council will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 28, at 6 p.m. at the Grant County Administration Center. Council members are scheduled to consider appointments to the Local Labor Management Relations Board, including the annual appointment of a labor union representative as required by town ordinance. The agenda also includes consideration of Resolution 2026-24 to amend the Town’s fiscal year 2026–2027 budget through fund transfers and appropriations, as well as Resolution 2026-26 to approve and adopt the fiscal year 2026–2027 operating budget.
The Commons Center for Food Security and Sustainability launched its annual Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) program, welcoming eight crew members from across Grant County for hands-on training in workplace readiness, gardening, landscaping, safety, masonry, public speaking, and food systems. A major summer project has been partnering with the Town of Silver City to beautify the Monje-Martinez Park parklet, where the crew has built stone pillars and will soon install fencing.
The Grant County Prospectors will host a welcome reception to honor Cobre School District Superintendent Dr. Verenice Gutierrez and Western New Mexico University President Dr. Jose Coll. The event will take place on Wednesday, July 29, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Grant County Veterans Memorial Business and Conference Center Lobby. Community members are invited to attend the reception and join in welcoming the new education leaders while celebrating their commitment to education and the local community.
