The New Mexico Department of Health has announced that New Mexicans registered for the COVID-19 vaccine at vaccineNM.org are now able to self-schedule their booster doses. Persons that have received their first dose, either within the vaccineNM.org system or elsewhere, can log in, choose their location, and select from booster appointments available to them. The NMDOH has also unveiled a new website that addresses frequently asked questions about the COVID-19 vaccine, eligibility, registration, and other health-related subjects. The site is now available at vaccineNM.org/facts

Hidalgo Medical Services (HMS), has announced that scholarships are available to 2021 Hidalgo and Grant County high school graduates who are enrolled to attend college during the Fall 2021 semester/quarter. Applications for the $500 college scholarship are due by April 30th and if selected as an awardee, each applicant will be notified by phone or email in early May. Eligibility requirements include:

  • Evidence of 2021 Hidalgo or Grant County (NM) High School Graduation
  • Three letters of reference
  • Verification of Fall 2021 enrollment in a college or university
  • Personal statement including educational and career goals in healthcare and objectives

Tomorrow, the Kiwanis Club of Silver City and various community partners will be holding a free Drive-thru Easter Eggstravaganza from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 at the Grant County Veteran’s Memorial Business and Conference Center, 3031 Hwy 180 East in Silver City, next to Ace Hardware. One goodie bag per child in the vehicle as long as supplies last. COVID safety rules will be in place. Please enter the parking lot from the 32nd Street Bypass Road entrance.
