At the time of compiling this report, COVID-19 cases have increased in New Mexico to 1711 individuals. There is a total of 51 deaths in New Mexico from COVID-19. For our area, we have 13 positive cases of COVID-19 in Grant County 1 in Catron County and 3 in Luna County. In addition, statewide there are 96 individuals hospitalized for COVID-19 and 382 cases designated as having recovered by the New Mexico Department of Health.

Silver Consolidated Schools has announced that the district is creating two distribution times for parents/students to pick up student learning packets for the Continuous Learning Plan so not to interfere with meal distribution. The District is offering a drive thru pickup in the rear parking lot of the School Board Office located at 2810 North Swan Street on Tuesday, April 21st. Due to the pandemic, the New Mexico Department of Public Health’s Women, Infants, and Children, also known as the WIC program, is now providing four months of food benefits instead of three to further limit direct contact for services. All main offices remain open with services modified to curbside service to limit direct contact and practice social distancing. Applicants and participants may request services by contacting local WIC offices, or visiting the NM WIC website, at  nmwic.org, and requesting an appointment using the Contact Us page.

The New Mexico Economic Development Department has introduced 10 additional webinars to assist business owners and community developers increase their online footprint in addition to navigating federal and state economic emergency assistance. The free webinars and recordings are provided by some of the following partners:

  • Staff from the office of Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham
  • The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions and Health
  • S. Small Business and U.S. Economic Development Administrations
  • New Small Business Development Center
  • Representatives from the federal Congressional Delegation
