Award Winning Latin Ensemble Nosotros to Perform at WNMU
The Mimbres Region Arts Council (MRAC), in partnership with Western New Mexico University, is extremely proud to announce their second concert at Old James Stadium. Popular Albuquerque/Santa Fe Latin band, Nosotros, will perform in Silver City outside at WNMU’s Old James Stadium on Friday, August 22. Gates open at 5pm with Nosotros playing from 7:30-9:00pm. Admission is $1 donation at the gate. Students of all ages FREE.
The nine-piece band Nosotros combines Latin rhythms with Rock, Salsa, Jazz and Cumbia. The award-winning ensemble began as a guitar trio in 1994 and was based in Las Cruces. In 2001, now a six-piece band, Nosotros relocated to the Albuquerque/Santa Fe area, firmly establishing themselves as one of the most popular bands in New Mexico.
In 2006, Nosotros released their fourth album, “Llena La Alma” with Grammy award winning engineer Doug Geist and was recognized by the NM Music Awards with several awards. The song “Hermosa” was named as a finalist in the prestigious John Lennon Song Writing Competition. They recently released their highly anticipated self-produced, fifth album “Ver El Sol”.
The outdoor venue of old James Stadium will allow plenty of room for dancing as well as listening. Local performers, The Illusion Band, will open the show beginning at 5:30pm. Food and drinks will be available for purchase during the show. The public is welcome to attend!
The Mimbres Region Arts Council has been providing quality visual, performing, and youth arts programs that serve and strengthen our community in the Silver City community for over twenty years.
This concert is sponsored by James Edd Hughs-Edward Jones Investments and the Murray Hotel.
