Here’s a look at today’s headlines:

On Wednesday, April 19th, Hidalgo Medical Services and Genoa celebrated the Grand Opening of their new, on-site pharmacy at the Silver City Community Health Center with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.  HMS Chief Executive Officer Dan Otero stated, “HMS’ addition of pharmacy services has already demonstrated improved quality of care and service to HMS patients and clients.”  Read the news release from HMS in a separate post on our website.

The Deming Public Schools Board of Education announced the selection of Dr. Arsenio Romero as the next Superintendent of Schools.  Dr. Romero is currently Assistant Superintendent of Instruction for the Roswell Independent School District, and has done work with the Principals Pursuing Excellence program.  The Board at the meeting also discussed changing the requirement for teachers to complete a master’s degree by their eighth year due to ongoing budget cuts reducing the district’s tuition reimbursement policy.

Stage 3 of the Tour of the Gila, the Dan Potts Memorial Tyrone Individual Time Trial, took place today.  In pro-women’s, Leah Thomas won the Time Trial with a speed of 38:27, followed by Tayler Wiles, Julie Emmerman, Ruth Winder, and Brianna Walle.  In pro-men’s, Evan Huffman won the Time Trial with a speed of 33:07, followed by Taylor Eisenhart, Serghei Tvetcov, Gavin Mannion, and Matteo Dal-Cin.
