Hello friends,

Today, President Trump signed into law the largest increase in military funding since the Reagan Administration, including the largest military pay raise that service members have seen in eight years. The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is by far one of the most important pieces of legislation that comes before Congress each year, as it authorizes crucial training, equipment, and resources our nation’s military relies upon to complete its mission.

From military installments to combat resources, modernization must occur across the Department of Defense. This bill commits more time and energy towards research, development, evaluation, and testing to ensure America’s service members have confidence in the tools they use in combat. This includes prioritizing vital missions ongoing at New Mexico’s labs and bases, like White Sands Missile Range that tests next-generation missile defense systems required to combat the growing threats around the world.

The United States has been sending our nation’s troops into harm’s way in Afghanistan since 2001. By signing this into law today, we as a nation are reaffirming our commitment to ensuring our troops will not face the enemy unprepared.

America’s service members, veterans, and their families have sacrificed greatly to defend our freedoms and preserve democracy.  We must never revert to a place where we do not stand up and show our thanks for the sacrifices service members make so that we can live free and safe.  With this bill, our military will have resources to combat the threats of today, while preparing for what the future holds. I’m pleased to see this legislation signed into law, and will continue being steadfast in my commitment to stand by the brave men and women who answer the call of duty.

Sincerely,

Steve Pearce
