Western New Mexico University’s nursing program is receiving recognition from Research.com as one of the nursing programs in New Mexico included in the organization’s 2026 rankings. The recognition highlights WNMU’s nursing education as students continue through the program and prepare for careers in healthcare. The program also provides hands-on clinical experience, helping prepare graduates to serve patients and healthcare facilities throughout southwest New Mexico.
The Luna County Commission is scheduled to consider an amendment to the county’s wireless telecommunications ordinance during its next meeting. The proposed changes would update requirements for wireless facility applications, including legal access, performance bonds, engineering standards, property-owner notifications and application review timelines. The amendment would also clarify procedures for small wireless facilities and certain projects involving federal land. If approved, the changes would take effect 30 days after adoption.
Livestock and pet owners are being encouraged to regularly inspect animals for wounds, behavioral changes and other signs of New World screwworm as Grant County responds to a recent confirmed case. The advice comes as the Grant County Fair continues with livestock inspections and additional precautions coordinated with state animal-health officials. The fair is proceeding while officials monitor the situation and work to limit the potential spread of the infestation.
