The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions has partnered with the Deming-Luna County Chamber of Commerce and the City of Deming to present a free workshop for employers. The “Regional Employer Workshop” for employers in Deming and Luna County will feature discussions regarding New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions services, H-2A information, work opportunity tax credit information, and business services leadership training. The workshop is free and will held at the Andres Z. Silva Conference Center in Deming this Friday from 1:00 to 3:30 P.M. Since space is limited, individuals are requested to R.S.V.P by calling the Deming Chamber at 575-546-2674.

There are currently two fires burning the in Gila National Forest, the lightning caused Cox Fire located in the Black Range Ranger District in Sierra County, and the lightning caused Apache Fire located in the Quemado Ranger District in Catron County. Both fires are located in high elevations at 8,000 feet and above and are being managed to protect firefighter and public safety in addition to monitoring values at risk that include natural habitat and private property. The Santa Rita Masonic Lodge and the Silver City Masonic Lodge has donated funds to the Fort Bayard National Cemetery Wreaths Across America project.  Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, the mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 1,600 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad. This year Wreath Placement will be on Saturday December 14th. Fort Bayard National Cemetery Wreaths Across America coordinator, Mary Cowan, received a check for $2,000 from the Santa Rita Masonic Lodge and $1,000 from the Silver City Masonic Lodge.
