The Mimbres Region Arts Council is pleased to feature Mark Medoff in the first lecture of the 2013-14 Artist Lecture Series.  Medoff will speak on September 28th  at 10 am at the Silco Theater in conjunction with the Southwest Festival of the Written Word and in partnership with the Western Institute for Lifelong Learning and WNMU.

According to a release, Mark Medoff is “an accomplished playwright, screenwriter, and professor.”  He has been nominated for an Academy Award for the film script of Children, and received a Tony Award for Children of a Lesser God.  He has also won the Cable ACE Award and an OBIE Award.  Medoff currently lives in Las Cruces where he is the “Dramatist in Residence” and Professor Emeritus of Theater Arts at NMSU.

The MRAC Artist Lecture series provides an opportunity to get “up close and personal with some of America’s finest artists”, the release states.  Those who attend the lectures learn about the speaker’s motivations, techniques and history in an entertaining way.
