The Mimbres Region Arts Council is pleased to present the first performance of the 2013-14 Indie/Folk Series.  Kris Delmhorst and Jeffrey Foucault will perform at the Buckhorn Opera House in Pinos Altos this Friday, October 18th, beginning at 7:30pm.  Premier sponsor for the event is Cissy McAndrew, United County Mimbres Realty.

“Kris Delmorst is a talented musical artist who manages to balance musical gravity with an original, fresh expressiveness.”   Her song “Weatherman” was included on a compilation album called “Respond”, which benefitted domestic violence groups.  Her most recent album “Shotgun Singer” was described by the “Boston Harold” as having “a dreamier and denser sound brimming with atmosphere and muted but infectious melodies… a work of lo-fi beauty.”

Her husband, Jeffrey Foucault, started writing songs during college about a girl from Iowa.  He recorded his first album in 2000, and has since released a number of critically acclaimed albums.  The “Pasadena Weekly” says Foucault’s music “unfolds like a sequence of underwater dreams drawn to the surface by literate, vividly image-textured lyrics.”  He has played with names such as Greg Brown, Gillian Welch, Todd Snider, Chris Smither, and Rosanne Cash.
