Here’s a look at today’s headlines:

The Kerr Fire on the Reserve Ranger District grew 2,868 acres due to the hand and aerial ignitions conducted yesterday.  The total fire size is now 6,604 acres, and the fire is 38% contained.  Weather will dictate operations today, and resources will continue to monitor and patrol the northern, eastern, and southern flanks.

The Baca Fire on the Quemado Ranger District is 670 acres in size.  Due to yesterday’s weather event, the current type three organization will begin releasing resources and tentatively start the transition process back to the Quemado Ranger District.

A recent study from offers.com listen New Mexico’s favorite Memorial Day Weekend Getaways.  The top three destinations New Mexicans chose to spend the three-day weekend are California, New Mexico, and Colorado, and the favorite food to enjoy is Ribs.  Nationwide, the top destinations are Florida, California, New York, Nevada and Texas, and burgers are the #1 Food.
