Here’s a look at today’s headlines:

Grant County Administrative Officials will conduct a Public Forum on Tuesday, May 16th in light of recent controversial changes to the Gila Regional Cancer Center.  The meeting will take place in the Commission Meeting Room of the Grant County Administration Center beginning at 6 pm.  Interested parties are invited out to a quorum and discussion of the Cancer Center.  This is not a formal meeting and no action will be taken.

The Silver City Food Co-op recently donated $1,460 to the Gila Resources Information Project using proceeds from their April Round Up Program.  The Program allows customers to round up the balance of their total purchase to the nearest dollar and donate that amount to a local non-profit.  Each month, the Co-op announces the current non-profit recipient.

The New Mexico Supreme Court on Thursday rejected a request to override budget vetoes, leaving negotiations about how to solve the state’s budget crisis — and restore funding to the Legislature — in the hands of the governor and lawmakers.  In a two-page order, the court said it was too soon to consider any possible constitutional violations related to Gov. Susana Martinez’s vetoes of all funding for the Legislature and state universities in the coming fiscal year.
