The Gila National Forest will begin pile burning to remove debris as conditions permit.  Slash debris piles were created by fuel reduction projects and clean-up efforts resulting from flood events.  Project locations include the Wilderness Ranger District Office on NM State Highway 35, the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument Administrative Sight, McKnight Road (Forest Service Road 151), near the Cooney Subdivision along the Mimbres River.  Smoke may be visible where burns are being conducted and may linger at night and into the morning.
