The Good Shepherd Recital Series will present  a “Classical  Recital”  at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 9.  The church recital series has been part of the Silver City community since 1996 as an outreach program to give trained concert level musicians a venue to practice their art. The church is located in historic downtown Silver City at the corner of Seventh and Texas streets.  Doors open at 2:30 p.m.  Handicapped access is available from the parking lot off Sixth Street. There is no admission cost.  The concert is free, however donations are always welcome.

The performers are Betsy Shook, flute,  Mary Hagglof, bassoon,  Adele Giusto, piano,  and Gail Rein, viola. All have performed several times in this series in the past.

The first half consists of Beethoven’s Trio for flute, bassoon, and piano.  It is in three movements and was written for  a family he was teaching lessons to.  The second half starts out with two pieces by Bloch – Meditation and then Processional.  A Sonatina in four movements by Dvorak follows.   Dvorak’s signature melodies weave in and out. The violist is the soloist with piano accompaniment.  The final piece is Foxtrot by Hindemith, with all performers joining together for a great fun ending to the recital.
