According to a news release, the Silver City Ranger District, Gila National Forest, will implement a temporary one-day closure for the Little Walnut Day Use Picnic Area tomorrow, August 21st, 2013, to remove hazardous trees and branches.

For public and employee safety, the public is asked to instead use the Gomez Peak Trailhead to access the Little Walnut and Gomez Peak Forest Service trail system on Wednesday, and to avoid work areas.

The Little Walnut Picnic Area will reopen Thursday, August 22nd, during regular operating hours from 8 am to 7 pm.  At the end of September, seasonal hours will take effect.

October hours are 9 am to 6 pm; November through February operation hours will be 9 am to 4 pm; March hours are 9 am to 6 pm; and in April, hours return to 8 am to 7 pm.
