Saturday, April 16, 2016

The Mimbres Region Arts Council is pleased to present Cirque Zuma Zuma, featuring a dazzling array of theatrical arts from throughout Africa, including South African gumboot dancers, the chair handstand balance act from Tanzania, Gabonese tumblers, contortionists from Ethiopia, percussionists from Zimbabwe, Ethiopian foot table, vocalists and more. The performance will be at WNMU Fine Arts Center Theatre, on Saturday, April 16, at 7:30 pm. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Audiences and critics in Europe and Australia agree – Cirque Zuma Zuma is unlike anything they have ever seen before. Many describe it as an African-style Cirque du Soleil; such is the standard of the performers and the quality of the show’s live musical score. This family show is sure to delight all ages with its colorfully costumed, highly energetic troupe of performers.

Dance and variety shows reflect the deepest roots of African civilization. The performer’s precise movements, flexibility and showmanship have provided entertainment to people from all walks of life for centuries. Associated with the esteemed Bomas of Kenya, the eight to twenty-five member African Acrobats International Academy (AAI) upholds the over 2,500 year-old tradition of traditional dancing, acrobatics and African cultural history. Cirque Zuma Zuma is a touring arm of African Acrobats International. The circus brings a cast of 18 talented members who fill a 90 minute show with nonstop action and amazing features which will keep audiences breathless.
